Big News for Our Bluebird Fans!!!

Lady Bluebird Volleyball: Cole Camp volleyball was in Windsor September 16th on what had been a very hot day for mid-september. Lot of harvest activity going on in the countryside to see while traveling.
Two sets of Junior High A-Team action to start the evening and Cole Camp won both. Next a JH B- team set, and Windsor held on for the victory there.
Next for the Junior Varsity sets and the Lady Bluebirds gradually built up a 13-6 lead. Rylee Fairchild a couple kills helping the cause. The lead ballooned to double figures as Riley Raetz served 6. Cole Camp won the first set 25-13.
Kristin Carl with a nice cross court kill early 2nd set. Windsor stayed within reach through mid game trailing only by a 16-14 margin. However a kill by Addy Russell put her in the serving position where she reeled off 5 in a row. That helped the Lady Bluebirds take the set 25-16.
Windsor and Cole Camp are both 2A schools for varsity volleyball classification. The Lady Greyhounds had just one loss on the year coming into the game. They start 5 seniors but rely on several sophomores also. Cole Camp was without Marilyn Hesse and Olivia Pilant, so others would need to step up.
Even start to the 1st set as indicated by a 7-7 tie. Mandy Goosen started a 6pt run for Cole Camp with a sinker ball hit. What's that? The Windsor defender had her hands out in front of herself about shoulder high. Only problem was the ball came in about waist high. Ouch! Goosen added 5 serves for a 13-7 lead. Later a 6-1 effort had the Lady Bluebirds in the driver's seat for what became a 25-14 victory.
Leah Allison a pair of Aces early 2nd set. Goosen a one-arm save, and Andrea Dieckman back-to-back kills. Call it practice, instincts, or chemistry, these ladies seem to fit together well! As Andrea served 6 a bit later, Maddie Flores and Dakota Dieckman recorded kills also. Cole Camp claimed the 2nd set 25 -15.
After trailing by 3 in the third set, Cole Camp regained the lead with Madilynn Ogle serving. Had mentioned instincts earlier, well they proved it again with three one arm saves that kept a rally going mid-third set. And even though they led 15-8, the Lady Birds were still working hard. Allison hit the floor twice defensively. Cole Camp took the final set 25-13 for the match sweep.
Kills: Andrea 14, Goosen 11, Dakota 5, Flores 4
Digs: Allison 11, Flores 6, Harrison 4, Cano 4
Assists: Ogle 34
Aces: 12 as a team
This victory was also quite significant as it was the 250th for the Abby Massingill / Brooke Ogle coaching duo at Cole Camp! 13 years together and counting. Congratulations Coaches and thanks to the students who made it possible!
Next home game Sept 18th, come enjoy the games!

Lady Bluebird Volleyball: Lone Jack volleyball teams visited Cole Camp September 15th 2025. Their JV record was 7-2-1 so several more games played then Cole Camp with a 6-0 record.
Nice start as Taylor Loganbill served 5 as part of a 6-0 run. Teams traded points mid game. Kristin Carl, Addy Russell and Rylee Fairchild with scores for the home team. Addison Brockman with 5 serves late as Cole Camp won 25-14.
Maddi Flores with the first 4 serves in the 2nd set. The lead grew to 7, then back to a 15-10 Cole Camp margin midway. Riley Raetz pitched in 6 serves down the stretch. Freshman Jolee Espey with a very nice save right at the pep club bleachers, and a kill on the next point. Cole Camp won 25-13.
The Lady Bluebirds entered the varsity game 5-0 and playing great team volleyball. Lone Jack with a 3-2 record, but they came to play! In fact they built up a 13-8 lead and pretty well maintained that 5 point margin till late. Andrea Dieckman up to serve trailing 20-23. Marilyn Hesse with a kill and a near ace by Andrea tied it at 23. Two more serves by Andrea and a Mandy Goosen smack won it 25-23 for Cole Camp.
Lone Jack again led early in the 2nd set with a 9-5 score. Several ties midway then the Lady Mules with a 7pt offensive to lead 19-13. To make matters worse, Hesse went down with an apparent ankle injury and was helped off the floor by Cole Camp trainer Maddi Fritz. Same trainer as last year, Maddi has just changed her last name to Fritz. Kate Harrison several digs late in the set but Lone Jack prevailed 25 - 16.
Very strong opening to the 3rd set for Cole Camp! Madilynn Ogle served 8 and Andrea with 2 kills and 2 blocks, one left-handed. Senior Lauren Roth isn't the tallest Lady Mule, but she was peppering the Lady Bluebird defense with shots. With Hesse on the bench, Maddie Flores took her spot in the lineup and made some nice digs. Ogle alertly caught the Lady Mules off guard as she notched a couple scores with a flip over the net on the second touch. Lady Bluebirds 25 - 16 in the third set.
For the 3rd time in 4 sets, Lone Jack mustard up an early lead, this time 8-2. But a power shot by Leah Allison regained possession, and Olivia Pilant with 6 serves for a tie game. For volleyball fans, it is a thing of beauty when the setter puts the ball in a perfect spot for a hitter to finish. Ogle and Andrea repeated this scenario several times in the 4th set. Great finish as Cole Camp clinched the set 25-20!
Kills: Andrea 16, Goosen 10, Allison 5, Ogle 4
Digs: Ogle 12, Harrison 10, Goosen 8, Pilant 7, Hesse 6, Allison 6, Andrea 5, Flores 5
Assists: Ogle 33
Blocks: Andrea 7, Goosen 3
Post game comment from Trainer Fritz was that Hesse will likely return to action soon. Let's hope that's the case!

Hunger is a significant issue that affects many, including our students. In Missouri, 1 in 5 children experience food insecurity, with many of their other family members dealing with the same challenge. That’s where Cole Camp’s School Market program comes in. In partnership with The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri, we provide a variety of meal ingredients, snacks and more for students experiencing food insecurity. Our School Market allows students to choose the foods they bring home, empowering them to pick what they need to thrive. If you'd like to learn more about the program, please reach out to our School Market Coordinator, Dawn Jelinek at 660-287-7434 or email at dawn.jelinek@bentonhealth.com or Elementary Counselor, Lynn Eckhoff at 660-668-3011 or eckhoffl@colecamp.k12.mo.us.

JV soccer went 1-1 on this past Saturday in Stover.
In game 1 vs. Iberia the Tigers got a 4-2 win. Jonny Xiloj scored 2 goals with Reid Hagedorn and Jackson Xiloj each netting one. Alex Diaz had 2 assists.
Alex Diaz had the lone goal in regular time vs. Stover in a game which went to penalty kicks with the Tigers losing 2-1. Diaz, Chance Gething, and Jaden Xiloj each hit the back of the net during the PK round.
Varsity soccer began the Clinton Cup tournament on Tuesday with a 4-1 loss to the host team. Clinton got off to a hot start with 2 goals in the first 5 minutes, however the Tigers settled in and played a more solid half until the Cardinals netted one more goal with about 7 minutes remaining in the first half. The team played better in the second half and was able to make some more runs and control the ball a bit more in the second half but it wasn't enough to make the comeback. Clinton got one more goal with just under 5 minutes left, but the Tigers fought to the end. Wyatt Crawford made a great run to beat the defense on a trough ball sent by Jack Hoos to net the Tigers lone goal in the final 5 minutes.
Varsity soccer got a 2-0 win vs. Paseo Academy in game 2 of the Clinton Cup on Wednesday evening.
Although the Tigers had multiple scoring opportunities in the first half, Paseo was able to thwart most of the chances. Reid Hagedorn took a pass from Jaden Xiloj with just over 15 minutes to play to net to net the Tigers first goal. The Tigers again controlled much of the tempo in the second half. Their loan goal came at just under 10 minutes into the half on a ball Max Tylar put through the defensive line that Jack Hoos was able to put in the back of the net.
RJ Hampton-Shultz and Denver Bannister combined for the the shutout in goal.
