Lady Bluebird Volleyball: Cole Camp knew starting volleyball play on Saturday October 11th that if they won 2 matches, they would be Champions. However there were two strong teams that wanted nothing more than defeat the #1 seed team.
First game for Cole Camp was facing the Northwest Lady Mustangs who are led by senior Gabby Meyer. As expected a close start with Mandy Goosen recording a couple kills. On the other side of the net, Meyer with kills and a couple impressive blocks. Defensively if a ball appears to be headed out of play, most likely Marilyn Hesse is on the dead run trying to reach it. From a 14-12 lead just past mid game, Cole Camp put together a very nice 11-3 string for the 25-15 win!
More of the same in the 2nd set for Cole Camp. Madilynn Ogle a short set for Andrea to kill. Hesse another one arm dig, yet the Lady Mustangs led 8-7. Strong mid game effort as Cole Camp pulled ahead with a 9-2 surge. No let up down the stretch either as Goosen a major dig which Kate Harrison then flipped over the net for a score. Leah Allison with 2 kills as Cole Camp won 25-17.
Kills: Hesse 9, Andrea 8, Goosen 5, Allison 3
Digs: Goosen 10, Allison 9, Harrison 7, Hesse 4
Assists: Ogle 25
Blocks: Goosen 6, Hesse 3
So on to the Championship game between Cole Camp and Stover beginning just shy of 1 p.m. October 11th.
Great start for the Blue Crew to lead 6-1. Allison with several kills and a great dig of Stover's Rory Pinzke smash. But the Lady Bulldogs stiffened and worked their way back ahead 13-12. Not for long. After regaining serve, Andrea served six for a 6 point lead. Ogle showed some toughness late in the set. Pinzke had powdered one over the net which caught Ogle in the face. Had this sting, but she shook it off and stayed in the game. Cole Camp 25-18 in the first set.
Cole Camp led 8-6 in the 2nd set but then the air seemed to disappear from under the Lady Bluebirds wings. Several balls hit in the net, players touching the net, or even an out of rotation call contributed to a 12-1 onslaught by Stover. After a Bluebird timeout, Cole Camp stabilized but couldn't fully recover. Stover 25-18 in the 2nd set.
So 1 set to determine the champion, and who would have momentum? Your Lady Bluebirds were more energized and put up the numbers to prove it!
Cole Camp led 7-2 at the 1st Stover timeout. Allison and Andrea with kills as the lead grew to 13-5 and the 2nd Bulldog timeout. Excellent finish from there as the Lady Bluebirds had their game in road gear! Ogle with 4 serves, then Andrea the last 5. Two kills by Goosen and a kill and block by Dakota Dieckman made for a 25-8 final and back to back Conference Tournament titles for Cole Camp!
Kills: Goosen 13, Hesse 10, Andrea 9, Allison 5
Digs: Allison 13, Goosen 9, Hesse 8, Pilant 5, Ogle 5
Assists: Ogle 32
Blocks: Andrea 11, Dakota 5, Goosen 2
Coach Abby Massingill in a post game comment stated how proud she was of the impressive way the Lady Bluebirds took care of business. "A week long battle of playing their hearts out!"
Two home games left, October 14th and 16th starting at 5:00. Come cheer on the Lady Bluebirds as they look to add to their 20+ win season! Go Big Blue!

Lady Bluebird Volleyball: Cole Camp was the #1 seed, followed by Stover, Northwest, Sacred Heart, Lincoln, Smithton, Green Ridge, LaMonte, Windsor and Otterville as the 2025 Kaysinger Conference Tournament tipped off.
During pool play, each team starts with 4 on the scoreboard and 2 sets only.
Facing Lincoln, Cole Camp led 10-6 and later 16-10. So what about a hiccup? Well a combination of Cole Camp miscues and an inspired Lady Cardinal team erased that deficit for a 20-20 tie. Mandy Goosen with a pair of scores gave Cole Camp a 22-20 lead, but the next 4 points went to Lincoln. After a Bluebird point but still trailing by 1, Cole Camp was whistled for being in the net, so Lincoln won the first set 25-23.
Senior Camryn Smallwood and sophomore Molly Strozewski were peppering the Cole Camp defense again in the 2nd set. With the game tied at 12, Andrea a kill to start a 4 pt spurt. Couple possessions later, Madilynn Ogle served 4 and Andrea planted three balls on the floor. Cole Camp earned the split with Lincoln by winning the 2nd set 25-15.
About 7:40 p.m. Cole Camp faced LaMonte, a much improved team from recent years. Leah Allison broke an 11-11 tie with a kill, and the tide soon shifted to the Bluebirds favor. Goosen served 7 in a row, helped by Andrea and Allison each with back-to-back kills. Cole Camp closed the set as Andrea provided a pair of blocks. Final of 25-13.
Marilyn Hesse with multiple saves for the Ladybirds, and they needed them as LaMonte stayed close throughout the 2nd set. Largest lead for Cole Camp was 8, but then the Lady Vikings were back within 3 or 4. Finally kills by Dakota Dieckman and Goosen sealed a 25-20 victory.
Kills: Andrea 19, Goosen 12, Allison 9
Digs: Hesse 17, Ogle 12, Allison 11, Pilant 8, Goosen 6, Harrison 6
Assists: Ogle 40
Blocks: Andrea 13, Dakota 5

Some high school art students attended the annual Kaysinger Art Contest at Liberty Park today. They did such a good job, filing in the picture planes, giving elements layers, vibrancy, and mimetic qualities. The students also competed in a sidewalk chalk group competition.
Winners at the contest included: freshman Mary Jade Ridenour, 4th Place in Mixed Media; senior Laura Zimmerman, 2nd Place in Graphite; sophomore Brooklyn Taylor, 2nd Place in Charcoal; and senior Anah Waynick, 1st place in Ink/Marker.
Congratulations, Cole Campers!!

CCHS Teacher Spotlight - This week, we are celebrating Mrs. Rogers, one of our amazing High School English teachers! Thank you for inspiring our Bluebirds every single day! 💙

Lady Bluebird Volleyball: Cole Camp hosted Green Ridge October 7th hoping to take another step towards regular season Conference titles. Both Varsity and JV teams did just that!
First JV set was close early, as in a 7-7 tie before the Ladybirds made some noise mid game. Maddie Flores with several kills as Cole Camp put together a 9-2 effort. Addison Brockman also with scores as the home team won the first set 25-16.
Green Ridge led the second set by a 7-2 margin before Kristin Carl dealt out a couple aces. With the score 9-9, Addy Russell with great hustle to set the ball for her teammates, and then finish that rally with a score. Still only an 18- 15 lead when Carl was next to serve. With the help of Taylor Loganbill and Rylee Fairchild kills, Carl served 7 to wrap up a 25- 15 victory for the JV ladies.
Green Ridge Varsity is a very young team. How young? One senior, 2 juniors, 7 sophomores and 9 freshmen on the roster.
Marilyn Hesse with 3 kills in the first 5 points of the game. Andrea Dieckman, Olivia Pilant and Leah Allison shared serving honors with 4 each. Cole Camp cruised to a 25-8 win in the 1st set.
Mandy Goosen a couple kills while Hesse served 6 in the 2nd set. Pilant appeared quite comfortable in the serving lane as she put 9 over the net for a 20-3 lead. Great reflexes by Allison as she made a one arm save that went back over the net for a score. Cole Camp 25-9 in the middle set.
Dakota Dieckman a kill early 3rd set, but the Lady Tigers played well enough to lead 9-8 nearing midway. After a 14- 14 tie, Cole Camp flexed their wings with an 8-1 game-changing effort. Andrea with several kills, but give Green Ridge freshmen Whitney Rupe an A for effort! She hit the floor hard trying to dig up Cole Camp hits. Ladybirds 25-18 in the 3rd set for their 17th win of the year!
Kills: Hesse 7, Allison 7, Andrea 6, Goosen 5, Dakota 3
Digs: Allison 9, Hesse 8, Harrison 6, Ogle 5, Goosen 4
Assists: Ogle 23
Blocks: Andrea 4, Allison 4, Goosen 3
Right back at it tonight October 8th in Conference Tournament pool play. Cole Camp scheduled to play Lincoln at 5:45. Come on out!
