Today in Mrs. Koenke’s class, students wrote text details, their interests in our topic about Marie Tharp, questions they still have, dictionary work with vocabulary words, and a drawing station of the ocean floor. Way to go 4th-grade, I loved the work you did!

Another solid night for the Cole Camp wrestling team! A trip to Sherwood tonight to take on the Marksmen and the Adrian Blackhawks. The Bluebirds came out victorious in both contests beating Sherwood 42-27 and Adrian 47-24.

After defeating a short handed Lincoln team in the opening round of the 2025 Kaysinger Conference Basketball Tournament, Cole Camp next faced Northwest in the semi-final round February 4th. Northwest had defeated Green Ridge in their opening round game.
Madilynn Ogle nailed a 3 at 5:51 giving Cole Camp a 3-2 lead. MacKenzie Moellman grabbed a rebound and put it back up for 2 at 39 seconds. Cole Camp led 5-4 after 1 qtr.
Leah Allison with a basket early 2nd qpr. Moellman added 4 giving her 6 points and 6 rebounds in the first half. The Lady Bluebirds could certainly use more of that! With a basket at 8 seconds, Northwest nudged ahead 12-11 at halftime.
The Lady Bluebirds experienced a power outage starting the 3rd qtr. They went scoreless for 4:45, meanwhile Northwest added 10. However Payten Shoemaker banked a 3 off the glass, Ogle another 3, and Marilyn Hesse 2 of 2 freethrows. This narrowed the margin down to 7 by the end of the 3rd qtr.
The Northwest lead grew to 31-19 early 4th qtr. Their dominant scorer Gabby Meyer had 18 at that point, but turned down some opportunities in favor of keeping the clock moving. Emma Thayer a 3 at 2:53 was Cole Camp's last score. Final Northwest 35, Cole Camp 24.
Scoring: Moellman 8, Ogle 6, Thayer 3, Shoemaker 3, Hesse 2, Allison 2. Meyer with 19, Mary Walker 10 for Northwest. Moellman 9 rebounds, Hesse and Allison 7 each. Thank you to Arthur Ku[pers for writing this article.

If basketball scoring worked like horseshoes, Cole Camp Varsity boys would be feeling better recently. For the second game in a row, the Bluebirds were in it till the end!
Cole Camp seeded #8 played Green Ridge #3 February 3rd as part of the ongoing 2025 Kaysinger Conference tournament. The Tigers opened the game with a 9-4 effort, then Cole Camp pushed ahead with a 10-2 uprising mid qtr. Kolby Bohon led the charge was 6, Kolton Phillips and Dasch Kaiser with layups. Cole Camp led 16-14 after 8 minutes.
Green Ridge retook the lead with a 10-point run mid-2nd qtr. Not very tall as a team, but the Tigers are fast! Still the Bluebirds battled back with Blake Abey and Bovey Clark nailing 3's. Cole Camp with a 28-26 lead at halftime.
Connor Petersen with two fieldgoals and 2 of 2 freethrows nearing mid 3rd qtr giving Cole Camp a 4-point lead. Considering his height, not many defenders can reach the ball if Petersen keeps the ball above his head. However the last 4 minutes of the third qtr may have decided the outcome. Green Ridge connected on three 3's plus other baskets in a 12-2 offensive effort. Lone Cole Camp basket was by Kaiser, who is gaining confidence handling the ball and positioning near the rim. Green Ridge led 42-36 after 3.
The lead touched 7 before Cole Camp again battled back. A Clark 3 at 2:28 made the score 45-46 Green Ridge. Down the stretch from there however, the Tigers made a 3 and 7 of 10 freethrows. Bohon a fieldgoal and a long range 3 for Cole Camp. Final score of Green Ridge 56, Cole Camp 50.
Not sure what the lifespan of a referee's whistle is, but there were some very used ones after this game. Multiple players on both teams had to take an early seat due to 5 fouls!
Scoring: Bohon 15, Petersen 10, Kaiser 8, Clark 6, Abey 5, Dieckman 3, Phillips 2, Burdick 1. Wyatt Crawford with 12 pacing the Tigers. Petersen and Kaiser 6 rebounds each, Bohon 4 steals. Cole Camp 6 of 19 freethrows.
Been a lot of sickness around last several weeks. How bad was it? One fan shared their fever was so high the wood stove had went out three hours before they noticed no heat! Thank you to Arthur Keuper for writing this article.

Cole Camp met Stover on the State Fair Community College campus in Sedalia Friday January 31st. As part of the opening games of the 2025 Kaysinger Conference Tournament, this contest was a rematch of one week ago which Stover won by 14.
Stover lead 6-0 before Kolby Bohon put a free throw on the board for Cole Camp. Baskets by Kolton Phillips and Connor Petersen late in the frame made it a 9-11 game favoring Stover.
Brett Burdick launched a 3 early second qtr. It did not fall through but to his credit, Burdick had followed his shot and he grabbed the rebound and put in a 2 pt basket for the tie! Those seemingly little things, along with reducing turnovers, are huge for a team who may not have a prolific point producer.
Stover led 20-14 by mid-second qtr, but Cole Camp came flying back with 8 in a 2-minute drill! Burdick a 3, Bohon and Colton Dieckman 2 each to lead that effort. Halftime arrived with a Dasch Kaiser basket at the buzzer for a Cole Camp 24-23 lead.
Cole Camp increased their lead to 6 early third qtr. However Stover connected on three 3's in the qtr so the game was tight. Blake Abey with his second 3 of the game made it a 34-31 game. After a Stover 3, Petersen with a basket late for a 36-34 Cole Camp lead after 3.
Neither team scored a basket for nearly 3 minutes in the last frame. Stover then added 6 before an Abey 3 at 2:45 broke the drought for Cole Camp. Following a Dieckman basket at 44 seconds, score was Stover 42-41. But the Stover defenders caused a couple turnovers and they added 3 freethrows for a 45-41 lead. Phillips with a basket at 3 seconds, and that was where it ended at Stover 45, Cole Camp 43.
Scoring: Dieckman 10, Abey 9, Bohon 8, Phillips 5, Burdick 5, Petersen 4, Kaiser 2. Vincent Karstens with 17 leading the Bulldogs. Cole Camp 4 of 10 freethrows.
So still a loss on the record book, but a much better effort for the Bluebirds. Next game is Monday Feb 3 at 7:30 pm at SFCC. Thank you to Arthur Keuper for writing this article.
