Junior Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls and Boys teams traveled to meet the Vikings on February 11th. Two qtrs of JV boys and Cole Camp put in a firm effort to win 24-11. Freshman Will Espey led the scoring with 8. Brett Burdick 6, Micah Davis 4, Bovey Clark 4, Chaning Alumbaugh 2. Varsity girls next on court and Emma Thayer nailed a 3 early and another just before the qtr ended! Maddie Flores was the first sub in for Cole Camp and she drained a 3 at the 5 minute mark. MacKenzie Moellman added 3 freethrows giving Cole Camp a 12-4 lead after 1. Junior Sophia Parton scored 4 for the Lady Vikings early second qtr. Playing near the basket, she has a left-handed shot angle that is a bit different to defend. Katherine Timoshchuk added a basket midway and Flores with a pair of steals. One she turned into a layup, the other Ogle scored a layup. Cole Camp up 19-8 at halftime. All Cole Camp in the 3rd! Moellman led the way with 5, Kaitlyn Whitworth 4, and Thayer another 3. Payten Shoemaker tossed in a freethrow and Cole Camp now led 34-8. Leah Allison and Kristin Carl joined the offensive fun with baskets in the last qtr. Final score Cole Camp 46, LaMonte 18. Scoring: Moellman 10, Thayer 9, Flores 9, Whitworth 6, Ogle 5, Timoshchuk 2, Allison 2, Carl 2, Shoemaker 1. Moellman 9 rebounds, Hesse 5. Parton with 11 leading the Lady Vikings. Finally the Varsity Boys and a rather quiet Cole Camp 7-0 lead was the score after 8 minutes. Blake Abey scored 6 in the 2nd for Cole Camp. Kolby Bohon with two fieldgoals, the second of which was about 8 ft in front of the basket. Sounds simple, but for a player to be dribbling down the lane and suddenly a defender is planted in front of you, do you pass, charge ahead, or put up a shot? Bohon put up a shot and nothing but net! He repeated this late in the game. Cole Camp led 19-10 at the break. Colton Dieckman with 6 in the third qtr, and that was it for Cole Camp. The Vikings must have reloaded from their battleship at halftime as they scored 15 to make it a 25-25 game after 3. Malik Moody with a 3 early 4th gave LaMonte their first lead of the game. But a 5th foul on one of LaMonte's post players weaken their chances somewhat. Very nice production again by Dieckman with 7 in the qtr and Bohon with 5. Just as important, Connor Petersen, Kolton Phillips and Abey with 4 each to stay ahead in the game. Cole Camp won 49-42. A 24-point output in the last qtr with 8 of 10 free throws made, great job Bluebirds! Scoring: Dieckman 15, Bohon 12, Abey 10, Petersen 6, Phillips 4, Kaiser 2. Phillips 7 rebounds, Kaiser 6, Petersen and Bohon 5 each. Moody with 19 for the Vikings who are having a year about like Cole Camp recordwise. Thank you to Arthur Keuper for writing this article.

Lady Bluebirds Finish 4th in Conference Tournament: Final day of play (February 8th), in the 2025 Kaysinger Conference Basketball showdown featured Cole Camp and Windsor in the Girls Third Place game. MacKenzie Moellman won the opening tip and Madilynn Ogle took the ball to the hoop for a quick 2. Leah Allison and Payten Shoemaker each added a basket so Cole Camp led 6-5 after a low scoring first qtr Kodi Dieckman with a rebound put back opening the 2nd qtr. Marilyn Hesse followed with a 3 for an 11-5 advantage 2 minutes into the qtr. Then like a light switch the Lady Bluebirds could only get a single freethrow to fall for the rest of the qtr. The Greyhounds however scored 12 so they led 17-12 at halftime. Hesse with another 3 and Moellman a 2 tied the game just after intermission. But Windsor with an 8 point run before Moellman was able to score another basket late. Score was Windsor 25-19 after 3. Ogle nailed a pair of long range 3's mid 4th qtr making it Windsor 30, Cole Camp 28 with 4 minutes to go. Cole Camp certainly in a position to win, but the lady Greyhounds made a couple field goals and a free throw. Cole Camp was unable to score again and so the 3rd place game went to Windsor 35, Cole Camp 28. Scoring: Hesse 9, Ogle 8, Moellman 4, Dieckman 3, Shoemaker 2, Allison 2. Hesse 9 rebounds, Ogle 7. Freshman Neveah Blythe with 14 leading Windsor. Thank you to Arthur Keuper for writing this article.

Senior, Leigha Harrison had her work chosen for production and installation for a window vinyl to add some color to the State Fair Community College hallway. Leigha is a second year graphic design student. She is shown with senior, Anastasia Procopisen, installing the 60/40 perforated vinyl to the window. This project allowed SFCC Career and Technology students to experience the full production cycle - from conception to completion - to help them prepare for the creative industry workforce.
