The speech team traveled to Sacred Heart today, taking on twelve schools from around the state. Everyone did outstanding and put themselves out there. Dalila Fanin (12) placed 3rd overall in Poetry and beat out a lot of tough competition. Brooklyn Schardan (10) continued to practice her FFA speech and finished 4th overall in Original Oratory. Thank you to Sacred Heart for putting on an organized and festive event!

Cole Camp Bluebirds Girls Basketball: Thanks to an exciting win over Weaubleau on Wednesday night, Cole Camp advanced to play Lincoln on Friday night. Cole Camp started 2 seniors, a junior and 2 freshmen. Lincoln started 1 senior, 2 juniors, a sophomore and a freshman. So lots of use on the court. Lincoln led 5-0 before Mackenzie Moellman broke the ice for Cole Camp. Cadence Harvey totaled 7 points in the qtr for Lincoln who led 10-4 after 8 minutes. The Cardinals lead grew to 10, but a strong last four and a half minutes before half helped Cole Camp recover. Moellman and Kaitlyn Whitworth with baskets, Payten Shoemaker 2 of 2 freethrows, and a Kodi Dieckman basket. Had Alyssa Mellen not connected on a 3 off the glass, Marilyn Hesse's steal and 2 pointer would have almost tied it at halftime. As it was, Lincoln led 18-14. Leah Allison tied the game after intermission with a pair of field goals. A Moellman freethrow at 5:06 gave Cole Camp its first lead. Again a one-point lead for Cole Camp at 2:28 after a Madilynn Ogle basket. But the Mellen girls, Alyssa a three and Lily a steal turned layup put Lincoln back ahead. Cardinals up 25-23 after 3. Alyssa another 3 in the 4th for Lincoln and two steals by Rebekah Helland took some steam away from the Lady Bluebirds. Shoemaker with a basket at 1:11 was the extent of scoring for Cole Camp. Final of Lincoln 30, Cole Camp 25. Scoring: Allison 6, Moellman 5, Shoemaker 4, Timoshchuk 2, Whitworth 2, Hesse 2, Dieckman 2, Ogle 2. Alyssa Mellen with 12 leading Lincoln. Boys and girls both scheduled to play at home Dec 9th. Come on out to support the Bluebirds! Thank you to Arthur Keuper for this article!!

Cole Camp High School Boys Basketball: Second game of the season matched the Cole Camp boys against the Leeton Bulldogs in the Warsaw tournament on December 5th. Connor Petersen still out due to sickness. With the game starting at 4:30 p.m., Reyd Johnson hit a 3 for Leeton 5 seconds into the game. Bovey Clark matched that twenty seconds later with his own 3. The margin widened a bit following. Johnson couldn't seem to miss as he scored 18 in the first qtr. Colton Dieckman and Kolton Phillips each was 6 for the Bluebirds. Had it not been for several untimely turnovers, Cole Camp likely would have stayed much closer. As it was, Leeton led 26-15 after 1. Kolby Bohon with a hot hand in the 2nd scoring six from beyond the arc and a two-point fieldgoal. Phillips tightened up the defense on Johnson and so Cole Camp narrowed the Leeton lead to 33-27 at the break. Leeton with a 7-0 run early in the 3rd qtr, but Bohon with a drive to the basket and a long range 3 slowed their momentum. Brett Burdick with a nice defensive effort and Bohon drew a charging foul on the Bulldogs. Phillips a traditional three and Dieckman another basket left it a 7-point Leeton lead after 3. Baskets by Dieckman and Blake Abey opening the last qtr made it a three-point game. Once again a three-point game after a Phillips steal and basket with 5 minutes to go. That's good! However Leeton outscored Cole Camp 11-2 in the last 4 min, (only 1 freethrow,) to win 67-53. Scoring: Bohon 18, Dieckman 15, Phillips 15, Clark 3, Abey 2. Johnson led Leeton with 27. Cole Camp High School Boys Basketball: The 92nd Annual Warsaw Boys Basketball Tournament hosted four games on December 3rd. Teams included #1 Weaubleau, Skyline, Knob Noster, Lincoln, Warsaw, Cole Camp, Leeton and Windsor. Bluebird team members include Seniors Connor Peterson, Kolby Bohon, Colton Thompson, Spencer Godwin, Joseph Hatfield and Patrick Allison. Colton Dieckman and Ty Loganbill are juniors. Sophomores include Dasch Kaiser, Bovey Clark, Kolton Phillips, Blake Abey and Landon Bauer. Freshman Brett Burdick also got in some court time. Cole Camp faced Knob Noster, a team who went 16-12 last year but has no returning starters. Still the Panthers led 9-0 mid 1st qtr. Abey with a free throw and Burdick a steal turned into a basket for Cole Camp's points. Knob Noster lead 13-3 after 1. Nice spurt opening the 2nd qtr as Dieckman scored from downtown and Phillips a field goal making it a five pt game. Burdick nailed a 3 mid qtr, but the Panthers are a quick team and scored in bunches. A 10-point run before half push the lead to 20 before a Bohon steal and layup made it Knob Noster 35 - 17 at the break. Kaiser with two baskets opening the 3rd. Clark and Bohon drained 3's mid qtr, but still no catching the Panthers. An old-fashioned 3-point play by Phillips ended the qtr with the score at 52-30. Clark with 5 in the 4th, and Kaiser another four. Final score was Knob Noster 67, Cole Camp 41. Scoring: Phillips 9, Clark 8, Kaiser 8, Bohon 5, Burdick 5, Dieckman 3 Abey 3. James Williams led 4 Panthers in double figures with 13. Kaiser, Phillips and Clark with 5 rebounds each for Cole Camp. Thank you to Aurthur Keuper for this article!!
