Cole Camp FTA members attended UCM's Teach It Forward Academy on Friday. They are happy to come back with lots of ideas.
Ms. Callahan's science classes were busy this last week!
Human Anatomy used microscopes to look at different types of tissues of the human body. They then reviewed their anatomical directions by playing a version of Battleship called "find my wound." They could only use anatomical terms to talk to their partners.
Forensics students learned about triangulating crime scenes and evidence and then later studied different types of search patterns by playing "Where's Waldo."
On October 18th, K-6 Grades will have a Grandparent/friend Day. Please see the attached information.
Pummil's will be here on Thursday, October 10th for Letter Jacket Sales. They will be set up in the High School gym during high school seminar and lunch(10:54-11:43). A $100 deposit is required with order.

FCCLA members attended the Region 12 meeting at the University of Central Missouri on Wednesday. The meeting was complete with workshops, a business meeting, and guest speaker Ky Turner.
As a bonus, our very own Madison Paxson, Region 12 Treasurer, was a key player in setting up and planning our meeting.
Lady Bluebird Volleyball: Cole Camp Junior High and Varsity teams traveled October 3rd to take on the Lady Vikings.
After a 5-5 start, the Jr High Lady Vikings went on a 13-2 march. That pretty well decided the 1st set as LaMonte won 25-16.
Nice reverse of fortunes in the 2nd set as Cole Camp built a 15-5 lead. They held that margin for a 25-14 win.
Third set was back in LaMonte's favor. A 7-1 lead early was enough to hold off a six-point string by Cole Camp with Jolee Espey serving. LaMonte won the 3rd set 15-11.
Because both schools have numerous girls on roster, a 4th set was played for additional court time. Cole Camp moved ahead 15-2 and finished it leading 25 -13.
No JV games so the varsity squads were next. LaMonte had a 7-10-1 record, more than double their wins over last year. However they were without one of their leaders due to an ankle injury.
Cole Camp took control early and didn't let up in the 1st set. With Marilyn Hesse serving 9, Cole Camp led 17-3. Olivia Pilant can play defense as well as setter, she had a very nice day early. Leah Allison is getting a better angle on her kill attempts and recorded several scores. Lady Bluebirds with a 25-8 win.
More of the same in the 2nd set. Andrea Dieckman served eight in a 12-2 start. Mandy Goosen several nice finishes off Madilynn Ogle assists. Cole Camp 25-9 in the second set.
In case some are not aware, Andrea Dieckman is a tall girl. Not sure exact height, but LaMonte likely felt she was about 7 ft tall. Dieckman had multiple blocks in each set! Regardless the score was tied at 16 midway through the 3rd set. Cole Camp then led 23-17, but a few Bluebird mistakes assisted the Vikings to pull within 24-23. At last, a Viking shot into the net sealed a 25-23 win for Cole Camp.

Seventh and eighth graders were asked to make a poster for an upcoming contest. Alanna Ashton's poster design was selected for the Missouri Lion's Club Poster Contest for 2024. The poster will compete with other students' work from other districts around the state. The theme was a personal take on "Peace Without Limits".
Today 4th graders in Ms. Taylor's class were challenged to design and create models of simple machines to solve real world problems!

Cole Camp Bluebird Volleyball: Sedalia Sacred Heart came to Cole Camp October 1st for JV and Varsity volleyball.
Nearly even numbers put on the scoreboard in the JV game. Kristin Carl with scores as Cole Camp led 12-11 midway. Maddie Florez served 5 down the stretch to help secure a 25-19 first set win.
Sacred Heart led 7-5 early second set, but that was their last lead for the game. Kaitlyn Whitworth a couple kills off Taylor Loganbill sets. Addy Russell served 5 midway and Carl closed out the set with a pair of aces in her 6 serves. Cole Camp 25-13.
A quick 5-0 start for the Varsity Lady Bluebirds while Olivia Pilant was serving. Andrea Dieckman with several kills as the lead grew to 13-7. Ashlyn Russell served 5 later as Cole Camp won 25-10.
And 11-2 opening for Cole Camp in the 2nd set. Mandy Goosen with opportunistic play at the net for scores. What does that mean? If a return from the opponent is floating barely over or near the net, smack it! Goosen, along with Marilyn Hesse and Leah Allison did just that and the Lady Birds won the 2nd set 25-10.
Dieckman and Hesse with blocks of the young Gremlin hitters in the third set. Cole Camp was leading 15-6, but it wasn't over. Sacred Heart put together a 9-1 come back despite great defensive hustle by Hesse. She had made a save in front of the Cole Camp pep club. Following was a Gremlin shot to the back corner on the other side of the court. Hesse sprinted over there and made contact with the ball, but couldn't quite keep it in play. Still a very nice effort!
A 17- 17 tie became a 25-17 victory as Dieckman served the final seven.
