7th grade students in Mrs. Schlesselman's math class are working on Percent of Change. Today, students worked in cooperative groups to solve spooky questions around the room to answer a riddle. We love seeing all the learning in action!
Lady Bluebirds Volleyball: Cole Camp Jr. High, JV, and Varsity volleyball teams were all at Smithton October 15th. Junior High games were played in a 2nd gym while the JV and Varsity played in the main auditorium.
In the JV game Cole Camp with a 4-point spurt and then an 11-2 run mid game secured a 25- 15 win in the first set.
Smithton with the 4 pt start in the 2nd set and the Lady Tigers still led 15-14. After a Kristin Carl score regaining possession, Kaylan Poe served 5 which proved to be the margin needed. Cole Camp took the final set 25-20.
Just a few days ago Cole Camp and Smithton varsity teams had split two sets during the Conference Tournament. Smithton also sporting a nice 15-7-1 record coming into tonight's play.
Good defensive work by Kate Harrison and Leah Allison in the opening set. Junior Lady Tiger Aubree Huddleston is their leading hitter with 10 to 12 kills per game. Cole Camp was leading 14-13, however an 8-1 effort put Smithton ahead 21-19. Could Cole Camp close it out? Yes they did with a 6-1 finish to win 25-22.
Mandy Goosen and Marilyn Hesse knocked down several scores in the 2nd set. Both can also play defense as Hesse turned around a Huddleston haymaker. With Olivia Pilant serving, Cole Camp led 21-10 and seemed to be cruising. But a 7 point streak by Smithton made it a game again real quick. Back and forth until a final hit by Goosen closed out a 25-22 win in the middle set.
Andrea Dieckman and ace and several kills in the 3rd set. Cole Camp led 11-6 when Smithton Coach Laurel Oelrichs asked for a timeout. Her Lady Tigers responded with a strong midset to move ahead 20-18. Dieckman followed with a score and stuff and Cole Camp went on to squeak by with a 25-23 victory!

Mrs. Schnakenberg's Freshwater Biology class went to Ross creek today to collect data to send to Missouri Stream Team. Even though there wasn't much water, we were still able to collect some data and enjoyed being in the beautiful Missouri outdoors!

Lady Bluebird Volleyball: Play resume Saturday morning the 12th of October using both gyms at Cole Camp. Earlier games had thinned the herd from 10 to 4, of which Cole Camp and Sacred Heart met in one semifinal game. Stover and Northwest were the other semi-finalist.
Facing Sacred Heart at 11:45 a.m. Cole Camp edged out to an 8-6 lead, thanks in part to active play at the net by Mandy Goosen. Then it was freshman Madilynn Ogle up to serve. How long did she stay there? Till it was over! Seventeen (yes 17) serves including a handful of aces for a 25-6 win. Short and sweet!
Second set much closer. Cole Camp up by 4, then Sacred Heart ahead by 2 midway. Goosen with 5 serves helped Cole Camp re-established a 21-14 lead. Strong finish by Marilyn Hesse as she hit a kill between the ankles of a Lady Gremlin. Guess the ball was there so fast she didn't have time to put her arms down for a dig. Cole Camp won the 2nd set 25- 16 to advance to the finals.

Now to the finals with Cole Camp and Stover starting at 2:20 on a beautiful fall day outside. Turns out the conditions inside weren't too bad either for the Cole Camp team and fans.
Steady and stingy could describe the Bluebird attack early. No long runs by Cole Camp, but defensively they limited Stover to just one point at a time. Therefore and 11-7 Lady Bluebird lead midway. Olivia Pilant then served 6, and the intimidating presence of Dieckman with a kill and back-to-back blocks of Ashlyn Pinzke, Stover's dominating hitter. Nice work! Now up by 10, Cole Camp kept up the pressure till a Pilant set and another Dieckman kill sealed a 25-16 win!
The Lady Bulldogs didn't go hide, in fact they worked up a 9-5 lead in the 2nd set. Kate Harrison and Leah Allison with several digs midway, yet Stover still led 18-15 looking to force a 3rd set. The Lady Bluebirds said, "naw this set ain't over yet".
Cole Camp pecked their way back to a tie at 20 and Goosen serving. Three miss hit balls by Stover followed. Then a Dieckman block, a Stover point, and a final Dieckman block and Cole Camp won the Championship with a 25-21 victory! Great work ladies.

The halls were echoing with music this morning as students were dancing with excitement and then it was down to business with students focusing on their work for the day. Happy Friday!
Monday crews will begin laying rainwater drainage lines from the ditch by the softball field up through the gravel and asphalt lots to tie in with new addition. We hope to keep parking and traffic disruptions to a minimum. Please pay attention to barriers or cones used to direct traffic as they will change according to where the excavation is. The entire project should take no more than a couple of weeks. Call the superintendent's office if you need more information.

Lady Bluebirds Volleyball: Cole Camp High School hosted the 2024 Kaysinger Conference Volleyball Tournament with preliminary round action on October 10th. Stover was top ranked, followed by Cole Camp, Smithton, Green Ridge, Northwest, Windsor, Sacred Heart, LaMonte, Lincoln and Otterville. All pool play games, two sets only, started with 4 on the scoreboard to save time.
Cole Camp faced Sacred Heart at 4:00 p.m. A strong mid first set as Marilyn Hesse and Madilynn Ogle combined for 11 serves in a 13-1 flight. First set to Cole Camp 25-14.
Olivia Pilant and Andrea Dieckman each with 7 serves in the 2nd set. Mandy Goosen a beautiful block of a Sacred Heart kill attempt. Baseball fans talk of the ball coming off the bat faster than it came in. That may have been true in this reversal also. Cole Camp 25-9 in the 2nd set.
Next Cole Camp met Windsor at 5:45. Cole Camp fairly well in control from start to finish. Retired Athletic Director William Smart, seated in the upper deck was on the receiving end of a Greyhound return attempt that went way astray! Bluebirds 25- 16.
Second set Cole Camp was leading 14-10 as Hesse began serving. Two aces amongst eight total serves and a Cole Camp 25-11 victory.
Third game for the Lady Birds was in the Middle School gym facing Smithton. This was a spirited game throughout! Leah Allison several nice digs early, but Smithton only trailed by a 14- 13 tally. Then the Lady Tigers pounced on the Bluebirds with a 9-1 blast that enabled them to win the first set 25-19.
Pilant dealt out several assists in the 2nd set, for that matter all the sets. No long runs but Cole Camp gradually raise the margin. Goosen several blocks late as Cole Camp won 25-14. Thus a tie but Cole Camp with the advantage due to a wider win margin.
Final two sets for the Lady Bluebirds were with the Otterville Lady Eagles. They are a young group but played well enough to lead 16-11 midway. Goosen followed with 9 serves while Dieckman hammered away at the net. Cole Camp endured for a 25-20 victory in the 1st set.
Not much different in the last set as Cole Camp went on to win 25 - 16.
