Cole Camp Volleyball: Two Recaps for the Price of One: With the ever increasing price of gas and Diesel, wouldn't it be sweet to get 2 gallons for the price shown on the station sign instead of one?
Cole Camp volleyball traveled to Lone Jack September 14th and the JV Lady Bluebirds won their match in 2 sets.
Varsity match was a very competitive affair. Lone Jack had several tall hitters in their lineup and they won the first set 25-21.
Cole Camp came back nicely in the 2nd set with a 25-20 win.
Lone Jack outlasted Cole Camp 26-24 in the third set, and then took the fourth set 25-18. So the first loss for the Varsity Lady Bluebirds but also a good test for future encounters.
Kills: Great effort for Andrea at 19, Dakota 7, Carl 6
Digs: Carl, Allison, Ogle, Meyer all 12 each. Raetz 9, Loganbill 8, Vansel 7.

Back at it September 15th at Green Ridge (2-4 on the year) and the Varsity teams led off the evening.
Madilynn Ogle with 2 aces as Cole Camp opened up a 6-0 lead. Later while Kristin Carl served, the lead grew to 19-9 and a Tiger time out. The young Lady Tigers (no seniors on the team) dug several Cole Camp kill attempts up, but the Blue Crew took the first set 25-13.
After a close start to the next set, Leah Allison served 6 to help build a 15-5 lead. Andrea Dieckman killed several floating ducks and Cole Camp claimed a 25-11 win in the 2nd set.
Cole Camp led 6-5 in the 3rd set when Taylor Loganbill was next to serve. How many? How about 12 in a row! Most of that string made possible by outstanding frontline play. Dakota Dieckman had 5 kills, Olivia Vansel 2 kills and Ogle one of her sneaky backflip scores. Though well ahead, Riley Raetz and Loganbill with nice defensive digs late in the set. Final of Cole Camp 25 -11.

Did you happen to see the Class of 2027's float at the Cole Camp Fair? It won "People's Choice" for a reason!
Each year, the senior class, their parents, and sponsors spend the summer before school preparing a float to enter in the Cole Camp Fair parade. This year, the class voted to create a float based on the film The Sandlot. While floats are making their way down the parade grounds, their "story" is read aloud, which depicts the major elements of the float itself and how it ties into the theme of the fair. This year, the fair theme was "Small Town Salute". The story of the senior class float is below.
A special thank you to Arie and Elizabeth Demoss for driving the tractor all four parades, and their countless hours of knowledge, support, and craftsmanship on the float. Another special thank you to Christel Harms for spearheading the float-building process and making sure it all went according to plan.
A final thank you as well to ALL the senior parents, community members, and seniors who worked on the float this year. It was truly a team effort and the product was outstanding.
Float Write-Up:
The Senior Class of 2027 proudly presents their float inspired by the 1993 film The Sandlot, a film that depicts the best of summertime in a small town - the Fourth of July, days at the pool, playing ball, and finally, ending the season with the taste of corn dogs and a ride at the carnival - truly a Small Town Salute.
Our float brings the beloved world of The Sandlot to life while giving it a small-town twist. At the heart of the float is a classic baseball field, representing the fields where friendships were made, summer days were spent, and every game felt like the biggest game of the year. Of course, just over the fence is The Sandlot’s legendary dog, guarding the fence with the famous Babe Ruth baseball in his mouth. This iconic detail represents the larger-than-life adventures of childhood and the stories that become legendary long after the summer ends. Just like the kids of The Sandlot, the Class of 2027 has their own stories, characters, and unforgettable moments.
The back portion of the float transforms the famous carnival scene into a celebration of our own fair. Our float features the familiar staples behind the food, rides, and excitement that come when the entire community comes together for fair week.
At the center of it all is the idea that the memories we make in our hometowns stay with us long after childhood is over. The baseball field, the neighborhood adventures, and the annual trip to the fair all represent the traditions that make small-town life special.

Our float is a small-town salute to the legends, memories, friendships, and traditions that make our community home. From the ball field to the carnival on Maple Street, these are the moments we remember - and the stories we’ll pass down for years to come.
Finally, the Class of 2027 would like to dedicate their float to senior parent and irreplaceable community member, James Abey. Thank you to S & H Farm Supply Inc. for the use of the tractor to pull the float.

Enough of the outside elements, how did the games turn out? JV teams started the evening and Cole Camp built a 9-3 lead with Melanie Dieckman serving 4 of those. Little more even scoring midset, then Cole Camp put it away with an 8-1 closing. Kaylan Poe served the last 5 as Cole Camp won 25-10.
Poe picked up the serving position opening the 2nd set and put in 9. Several near aces as Russellville has a lot of freshman who are learning. After a Cole Camp hit into the net, Addison Brockman with a score to put Addy Russell up to serve. She delivered 7 while Lauren Hesse recorded a couple kills. Cole Camp gave Russellville their 2nd point by hitting the ball out of bounds, after which Brockman served the last 7 for a 25-2 victory.
The Russellville Varsity record stood at 2-1 beginning play and they start 2 freshmen. Very nice execution for the Lady Bluebirds as they opened up a 13-5 bulge. Andrea Dieckman making use of her height and ideal sets by Madilynn Ogle contributed to the scoring. While Riley Raetz was serving 8 in a row later, Kristin Carl with a couple scores and a fine defensive save. Ogle closed out the set serving for a 25-8 win.
Andrea kept adding to her kill totals early 2nd set. One Russellville return was coming down very near the net like a wounded duck. Question was which side would it be on? While the Lady Indians were guessing, Andrea jumped up and hammered it to the floor! But Russellville stiffened by mid-set with senior Mandy Miller hitting with authority. Another senior Jada Schmidt 5'11" blocked a couple Cole Camp efforts and the Lady Indians were ahead 21-20. Leah Allison dropped in an ace, Taylor Loganbill a great save, and Andrea another kill to clinch the 2nd set 25-22.
Close 3rd set early. Dakota Dieckman a couple kills, yet both teams had a few miscommunication moments. Allison served 5 for a 14-8 lead, then Russellville answered with the next 5. Raetz with nice defensive work down the stretch and Olivia Vansel an impressive block of a Miller shot! Cole Camp wrapped up the sweep 25-20.
