Lady BLuebird Volleyball: Cole Camp welcomed Saint Paul's of Concordia to town on September 1st for 3 matches of volleyball.
Kaylan Poe served 5 helping Cole Camp get a good start in the C game. But the Lady Saints nearly tied it midway trailing by 1. From there it was mostly Blue. Adilynn Craig put down 2 aces during 6 serves as Cole Camp pulled away 25-11.
Aspen Meyer had 4 serves in a row twice in the 2nd set. Former Cole Camp resident Hannah Truwe with a nice cross court hit mid game for the Saints. Cole Camp claimed the last C team set 25-12.
In the JV contest, Maddie Flores started the set with 8 serves, including 2 aces. Nearly half of the Saints points were due to Cole Camp serving into the net or stepping to far under the net. Cole Camp closed out the set with a 10-1 run with Riley Raetz serving 6 of those. Cole Camp 25-7.
The Lady Saints led 4-1 in the 2nd JV set, however after regaining possession, Addison Brockman served 6. Riley Fairchild with a couple stuffs at the net and Cole Camp was rolling. Kristen Carl with a pair of aces mid game and Taylor Loganbill a couple well placed scores later as Cole Camp won 25-14 for the JV sweep.
The Varsity Lady Saints, traditionally has a strong program. So a good early season test for the Lady Bluebirds.
Cole Camp jumped out to a 5-0 lead and didn't look back. As Olivia Pilant was serving nearing midway leading 12-4, the Saints stiffened a bit after their timeout. The margin stayed around 7 until Madilynn Ogle served the last 6 for a Cole Camp 25-11 win.
Very close 2nd varsity set. St Paul's led 12-9, then a block and 4 serves by Andrea Dieckman gave Cole Camp a 17-13 lead. Back came the Saints to nudge ahead and take the set 25-22.
Strong 10-2 start for the Lady Bluebirds in the 3rd set. The Dieckman girls, Andrea a junior and Dakota a sophomore- cousins but not sisters - were both scoring at the net. Leah Allison and Marilyn Hesse each with 4 serves in a row. Mandy Goosen 2 scores and a block late as Cole Camp won 25-13.
Ditto in the 4th set. Cole Camp led 8-2 early and 15-9 midway. The Saints have some hitters, but Ogle turned around several smashes on defense. Final score of 25 - 15 for the Cole Camp victory!

This year's Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, September 27 from 8-10 PM in the JH Gym. The cost is $2 and is open to 9-12 CCHS students only.

Students in the Art 1 classes and in the Middle School Art class had an introduction to gesture drawing, getting the opportunity to draw quick, timed impressions of poses. The students took turns modeling for their table groups and drawing others in their groups. It's very difficult and they did a great job!

Cole Camp Volleyball: Cole Camp hosted Warsaw on August 28th for C team, JV and Varsity action. And it was a very successful beginning to the 2025 season!
Cole Camp took the first C team set 25-15, and did even better in the 2nd set winning by a 25-10 score. Lauren Hesse with good numbers in both sets and Lillyann Mellon tossed in a string of serves in the last set.
The Lady Wildcats led the first JV set 9-4 before Cole Camp fought back. Addison Brockman served 4 and Kristen Carl added 6 in a 12-1 uprising midway. Cole Camp went on for a 25-20 win.
Madolyn Flores started the 2nd set with 5 serves for the Lady Bluebirds. Choppy from there with both teams missing several serves mid game. However Adaleigh Russell closed out the set with 5 in a row for a 25-12 victory in the last JV set.
On to The Varsity match which would be best 3 of 5 possible sets. Fans certainly got their money's worth as great efforts were displayed on both sides of the net!
Warsaw lead 6-2 early, then Cole Camp back ahead 10-9. Warsaw up 15-10, Cole Camp regained an 18- 16 margin. Warsaw up 23-22 with serve when Leah Allison nailed a kill for the tie, and the Lady Bluebirds closed out the first set winning 25-23.
The Lady Wildcats came out strong in the 2nd set and built a 14-7 lead. Junior Maylee Slavens is a very athletic hitter and blocker on the front line. Andrea Dieckman used her height for several kills, but Warsaw still up 24-20. Couple miscues by Warsaw and a Marilyn Hesse cross court hit tied it at 24. Back and forth they went in this marathon set until Warsaw claimed a 31-29 overtime decision.
Certainly these games are meant to be fun, but also learning experiences for the students and responding to challenges. Your Lady Bluebirds just did just that by building a 10-5 lead in third set. From the setter position, Madilynn Ogle was busy assisting her teammates, but every so often she will throw a little backflip shot over the net for a score also. However the Lady Cats pounced on the Bluebirds midway with a 7-point run to regain the lead. Cole Camp answered with a 6-1 effort and later 3 scores in a row by Mandy Goosen finished a 25-21 victory for Cole Camp in the third set.
Moving to the 4th set and more excellent work by two well coached teams. Tied at 11, Cole Camp rallied for 5 in a row, the longest string by either team in the set. Dieckman with multiple kills down the stretch for a 25-21 victory and a sweep for the Lady Bluebirds on the night. Great endurance Cole Camp!

Senior, Lindsey Vansel, was interviewed for an article that was published in the September issue of the Central Missouri Electric Cooperative magazine about her trip to Washington, DC in June. Lindsey completed the application for the Missouri Youth Tour through the local electric cooperative and was chosen to attend. Congratulations, Lindsey!

It was a busy day in Ms. Callahan's Physical Science classes! Students completed their Metrics & Measurements lab stations to review previous concepts and build off of them! The lab also tested their abilities to follow directions & measure accurately.
On a beautiful day, what is better than being outside for recess? Our preschooler are sure enjoying themselves!

24-25 yearbooks were sent home with siblings of graduates this week.
Those who do not have siblings in school can find their yearbooks in the HS office. Please pick them up at your convenience.
This week, Art Appreciation students discovered the historical importance of ancient cave paintings and the progression of visual communication since 30,000, B.C. The students then started developing large-scale drawings based on traditional images and integrated personal symbols into their own studies of this imagery. Tomorrow, we will finish these and put these up in the hallway before moving into a Nonwestern art study.
Picture Day
When Ms. Callahan’s forensics students came in, their exams had mysteriously disappeared! Instead of filling in bubbles, they had to analyze sugar crystals, salt, and many more and match the evidence back to the “crime scene.”
Turns out… test day can be a real recipe for investigation!
