Cole Camp R-I Announces Next Superintendent

January 17, 2023

The Cole Camp Board of Education has selected the next superintendent of schools. During a meeting held on Thursday, January 12, the board voted to employ Mrs. Christina Hess as superintendent, effective July 1, 2023. Mrs. Hess is currently serving as superintendent for the Steelville R-3 School District.

Prior to becoming superintendent at Cole Camp, Mrs. Hess served the Jasper R-V School District as High School Principal/Superintendent from 2015-2021. From 2021 until the present, Mrs. Hess has been the Superintendent at the Steelville R-3 School District.  Mrs. Hess taught language arts in Eldon, MO and in Russellville. She also worked for nearly five years for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Career Education.  Mrs. Hess earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Missouri State University, her Master of Educational Administration and Specialist of Educational Administration from William Woods University.  She is currently writing her doctoral dissertation.

“My husband and I are very excited to be a part of the Cole Camp community and feel honored to become part of Bluebird Nation!  I am looking forward to working with the board, administration, faculty, and staff to continue the great work happening in the Cole Camp School District. We intend to become fully involved in not just the school but the community.”

Mrs. Hess has immediate family in Eldon, a daughter and son-in-law in Branson, a grandson in Rocky Mount and extended family in Versailles. “Family is not always about blood kinship; we value all of our family members and work hard to support each other through good times and bad,” said Mrs. Hess.

“Our Board is excited to welcome Christina Hess to Cole Camp R-1 as our new superintendent of schools,” Board President Eric Hoke said in a statement.  “Mrs. Hess brings a broad and diverse educational background and will be a great addition to our district.  We look forward to working with her to ensure our students continue to receive the highest level of education.”  Long time board member Marty Doogs added, “We had some top-notch candidates apply for our superintendent position.  All three of the finalists interviewed very well and made it a difficult choice.  In the end, it was Christina’s experience that made the difference.”

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Hess and her husband Phil, to the Cole Camp community and congratulating her on her new position as Cole Camp R-I Superintendent.
